The Lower Kuskokwim School District is the largest rural school district in Alaska, in number of sites, teachers,and students. The district is headquartered in Bethel, Alaska and includes 22 Yup'ik villages each with a K-12 school, as well as 5 schools in Bethel. The villages are spread over an area about the size of West Virginia.
