This position is a full-time temporary position not to exceed 13 months. Temporary appointments may be extended at the discretion of management and in accordance with applicable regulations.
The Physical Therapist position is in the Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Service (PM&RS) at the VA San Diego Healthcare System (VASDHS). Incumbent may work at the main clinic in La Jolla, an outpatient clinic in Mission Valley or an outpatient clinic in Oceanside, CA. The Physical Therapist will independently utilize different and unrelated methods to evaluate and interpret specific physical and psychosocial problems of patients to carry out the appropriate therapy. Duties include solving complex problems related to physical therapy, adapting and modifying treatment plans, activities and procedures to meet the need of patients with complex disabilities. Works effectively with treatment team members and other healthcare providers in coordinating the patient's total care. Experience in orthopedics, neurology, traumatic brain injury, and geriatric physical therapy in the inpatient and outpatient setting is helpful.
Work Schedule: The position is full-time, 40 hours per week, but overtime/shift/weekend/holiday work will be required, as needed, to meet the needs of the Service and patient care.
