The primary function of a Clinical Supervisor, under the direction of the Head of Service and Clinical Director, is to provide clinical supervision, including oversight of mental health services provided and the documentation of those services as part of the mental health program at Boys Republic. This oversight may include the identification and implementation of clinical training, ensuring appropriate quality and level of care is provided to individuals/families served, provide oversight of documentation, and completion of administrative duties.
Additionally, this individual may provide comprehensive mental health services as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. These mental health services include psychosocial assessments for youth, treatment planning, therapy (individual, family, group), and transition services. This individual plays a collaborative role with the treatment unit team, participating in program team meetings, in-service trainings and a clinical consultation group.
This individual must maintain timely, clear and concise documentation of services provided and any other administrative record keeping in accordance with job duties. This person must demonstrate high-level time management skills and proactively identify tasks to effectively complete role requirements.
If assigned to a unit, reports directly to the Unit Supervisor/Residence Director and is generally responsive to members of the treatment team. Oversight of clinical work is provided by the Mental Health Program Director (head of service) and Clinical Director.
A Mental Health Clinical Supervisor must have clear verbal and written skills in order to communicate effectively with adolescent youth, youths’ family members, representatives of other agencies, and a multidisciplinary treatment team. This individual must have the ability to maintain a professional demeanor when interacting with other individuals within the treatment unit and when interacting with the community as a liaison. This position calls for open-mindedness, flexibility in an ever-changing environment, motivation as a self-starter, and an ability to take direction.
1. A graduate degree from an accredited university and current licensure with the BBS/BOP
2. A minimum of two years post-licensure experience providing treatment to youth and families
3. Completion of requirements for the provision of clinical supervision
4. Prior experience in the provision of mental health services to adolescents (residential treatment experience preferred)
5. Ability to work collaboratively and constructively within a multi-disciplinary team environment
6. Basic computer literacy
7. Must possess a valid driver’s license and pass a background check
8. Must have problem solving skills and ability to set behavioral limits
9. Must show a basic understanding of the students that we work with
