Supervision of Staff
Supervises Licensed Mental Health Professionals, including hiring, orienting, coaching, evaluating and performance management to ensure that patients receive high quality, timely, crisis services consistent with organizational care standards
- Recruit and hire high quality full and part-time licensed clinical staff who are passionate about emergency behavioral health crisis intervention services
- Orient and train clinical staff in state-of-the-art clinical practice and organizational care standards for both in-person and tele-medicine patient care
- Utilize Quality Improvement processes along with patient survey and other feedback data to improve patient and family experiences
- Provide mentoring support to staff as they respond to complex clinical care needs of patients and families
- Build and maintain clinical staff morale and a culture of excellence and caring in patient services
- Effectively communicate with staff who work varying shifts and schedules in multiple locations
Supervision of Clinical Processes
Supervises day to day clinical processes including flow of patient services and associated documentation
- Provide support to clinical staff when schedules and work flow create obstacles to timely and effective care
- Problem solve challenges in real time and retrospectively following emergency department concerns or patient feedback about challenges
- Support scheduling team in ensuring staffing needs are met
- Work with clinical and operations leadership teams in evaluating clinical tools and processes to ensure that they support clinical staff in service to patients and emergency department sites
- Develop sufficient capability in the utilization and troubleshooting of IT and Tele-Medicine technology to provide first level support to clinical staff experiencing challenges
- Collect, analyze and respond to clinical metrics that identify needs for process change or refinement
Clinical Regulatory Oversight
Supervises clinical care to ensure that organization is in compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies
- Understand and exhibit ability to educate staff in regulatory standards and organizational policies
- Review clinical documentation regularly, identifying areas for needed training or process refinements
- Provide liaison services between clinical staff and billing, regulatory, utilization review and other internal departments that utilize clinical documentation to support operational processes
- Participate in case review and quality oversight activities and provide feedback and training to clinical staff as needed
- Participate on various planning and regulatory committees as needed
Organizational Leadership
Works closely with all departmental functions to ensure that administrative and support staff understand, value and have pride in the clinical care provided to patients
- Understand the multiple administrative and support functions and the information they depend upon to meet requirements
- Act as a liaison between clinical staff and other functions
- Provide support to Emergency Department medical and nursing staffs, including crisis service education as needed
- Support the implementation of emergency behavioral health crisis services in newly engaged Emergency Department and other sites
