The Marcus Institute for Brain Health (MIBH) at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is a clinical care and research institute for Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Physiological conditions, and Behavioral Health (BH) conditions such as post-traumatic stress, depression and anxiety. The primary focus of the MIBH is to care for former military personnel who have separated from active duty, with special consideration for those who were separated with “Other Than Honorable” or “Dishonorable” discharge status due to TBI or BH conditions. The MIBH also serves civilian adults who have sustained mild to moderate TBI and are experiencing ongoing neurological problems and cognitive, physical, and behavioral conditions. The MIBH provides interdisciplinary care for adults experiencing persistent effects of TBI. This includes comprehensive multidisciplinary assessment and an Intensive Outpatient Program that integrates conventional medicine with complementary and alternative treatment modalities.
MIBH currently seeks a full-time Clinical Navigator who will work within a team setting to assess patient clinical needs at entry to the Institute. The role of Clinical Navigator will be to complete an extensive medical record review and an intake assessment interview with the patient to determine if they are appropriate for participation in the MIBH program. This position will also identify and communicate with the clinical team regarding TBI and psychosocial history to include at-risk social and behavioral patients entering the clinic. The position must adhere to the State of Colorado Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses (RN) and/or Social Work (SW).
Review all program applications and relevant medical records and conduct assessment interviews with potential patients
Present assessment findings to the Clinical Decision Team to determine appropriateness for the program
Provide recommendations to the team regarding patients’ physical and psychological needs
Provide a verbal and written clinical summary to the treatment team during the evaluation component of the program
Enter appropriate documentation into EPIC in a timely and accurate manner
Develop and maintain good working relationships with partner programs and referral sources

A bachelor’s degree in biological science, nursing, health, human services, psychology, counseling, social work, or a directly related field from an accredited institution
1 year direct experience working with individuals with Traumatic Brain Injury
1 year direct experience in neurological rehabilitation services’ philosophy and practice
2 years direct experience with populations in a military or veteran setting
A master’s degree from an accredited institution as a RN or in Social Work is preferred
Experience using EPIC
