The In Patient Social Work Supervisor has significant personnel management responsibilities for social work staff who provide a full range of social work services to veterans and families. The incumbent is responsible for professional and administrative management of social work service in the Social Work Service (SWS). Duties include, but not limited to: 1. Incumbent works to resolve informal complaints and grievances. Develops work improvement plans, recommending personnel actions as necessary. 2. The incumbent is responsible for all aspects of acute care and ED social work staffing, work assignments, budget and treatment services. 3. The incumbent is responsible for monitoring performance measures at the local, VISN, and Central Office levels; providing responses to congressional inquiries; and briefings to providers, VA leadership, community organizations and other internal and external stakeholders. 4. The incumbent is responsible for managing and reporting on program specific fund control points, labor mapping, workload, and clinic utilization within the assigned program area. 5. The incumbent is responsible for the scheduling, coverage, and follow up on social work services in the ED, ensuring coverage plans are broad and contingencies plans are written and distributed widely to whomever may need them. 6. The incumbent may provide clinical interventions to Veterans and caregivers.
