The Whole Health Coordinator has full responsibility for administering all aspects of the local initiative to support the health and well-being of employees. This involves assembling and coordinating the activities of a diverse planning team of health professionals and representatives from various services who will assist the coordinator in planning and implementing educational opportunities, wellness activities, and programs for employees. The Employee Whole Health Coordinator has the ultimate responsibility for planning and implementation of the local employee wellness program based on national guidance provided by the national Employee Whole Health program office. The expectation is that the Employee Whole Health Coordinator will address overall wellness issues for employees throughout the medical center and outlying areas including but not limited to nutrition, mental, emotional, social, physical, and environmental wellness based on Whole Health (WH) principles and the WH system of care. The Employee Whole Health (WH) Coordiantor: Establishes and chairs the Employee Whole Health (WH) Committee. Assembles a diverse planning team of interdisciplinary health professionals and representatives from various services within the medical center including labor partners. Works with the committee to develop a charter, goals and strategic plan for the Employee Whole Health program, and ensures the plan is updated annually. Represents Employee Whole Health on the Whole Health Committee to ensure collaboration on wellness initiatives that may be beneficial to both Veteran patients and employees when feasible. Conducts needs assessment(s) of employees to determine program needs and interests. Develops core program components based on assessment results. Develops and delivers classes, seminars, workshops, etc. on various Employee Whole Health topics including but not limited to nutrition, physical activity, and mental health topics or works to identify and collaborates with relevant subject matter experts. Schedules instructors. Selects classes and activities. Organizes Events. Integrates concepts, practices and tools that support the WH system of care. Utilizes materials and resources available on the WH library. Collaborates with other services on the assessment of the health needs of employees. Consults with specific services such as Safety, Human Resources, Veterans Canteen Service and Occupational Health to identify employees at highest risk for injury or illness identifying strategies to help lessen the risk within these groups. Implements use of available individual health assessments to determine employee wellness strengths and opportunities (i.e., Personal Health Inventory (PHI), Healthy Living Assessment (HLA)), and tracks employee improvement and goal attainment as appropriate. Creates a personalized health plan (PHP) with employees who desire one by exploring the employee's mission, aspiration and purpose (MAP); creates goals and action plans with the employee based on his/her MAP. Liaises with the medical center leadership team and VACO on issues of policy, planning, budgeting, and results. Reports annually to medical center leadership on program goals and accomplishments. Maintains and updates local policies and procedures related to Employee Whole Health as needed to ensure compliance with VHA-level directives and regulations, VISN guidelines, medical center policy, Union Master Agreements, professional guidelines, and all accrediting and regulatory agencies. Manages program budget and is the fund control point official for the Employee Whole Health program. Purchases a variety of products, materials, and goods used in the promotion and administration of Employee Whole Health activities. Works with Fiscal Service, Compliance, Logistics, and approving officials to ensure proper purchasing selection and procedures. Serves as a Contracting Officers Representative (COR) for contracts related to the Employee Whole Health program. Promotes the Employee Whole Health program to all employees on all shifts throughout the medical center and Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs). Collaborates with the Employee Whole Health Committee and Public Affairs to develop a communications and marketing plan. Consults with service chiefs and managers to maintain high program visibility and advises them on staff involvement.
