The Chief Therapist is responsible for the oversight of daily operational efficiency, including: customer service, teamwork, quality improvement, human resource management and physician relations.
Carries out procedures and polices that affect assigned work area(s).
Works with the Director in promotion of ongoing quality, productivity and efficiency in the Department.
Maintains and increases knowledge regarding new techniques and radiation oncology program development.
Teaches and supports the Radiation Therapy student(s) in the field of Radiation Oncology.
Effectively supervises the staff therapist to ensure the safe delivery of daily radiation treatment to patients, whose ages generally range from infant to elderly, with a majority toward elderly, 60 yrs and over, as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist.
Implements the Departmentâ��s Policies and Procedures
Executes new or improved procedures, when necessary, as it relates to technical / therapy functions.
Identifies, develops and implements plans for the purchase(s) of new technologies for the set-up and delivery of radiation.
Communicates regularly with outside vendors bringing new technologies / services to the program.
Conducts performance evaluations
Provides guidance regarding performance expectations, competencies and regulatory agency requirements (DOH, JC, ACR, ASTRO).
Oversees daily operations including: productivity, patient treatment schedule, supply management.
Functions as a staff radiation therapist, as needed.

Education Required: B. S. degree ; Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy Program. Therapy A. R. R. T. certified in Radiation. Maintains educational (. edu) as required by the institution Maintains CPR certifications.
