The position of resident or fellow entails provision of patient care matching with the individual level of advancement, competence, and defined medical specialty. Job Duties
Geisinger Health System invites applicants to join an enthusiastic and vibrant team of pediatric psychologists for three postdoctoral fellowship positions in pediatric Primary Care Behavioral Health (PCBH). The available positions are located in the Geisinger Health System-Central Region, at the Woodbine, Bloomsburg, and Selinsgrove/Lewisburg PCBH clinics. The fellow accepted to each position will work full time in PCBH under the supervision of a licensed psychologist.
The three available positions offer the opportunities to: -Provide clinical supervision to trainees -Deliver evidence-based care to children, adolescents, and families -Conduct a high volume of consultation to medical providers and clinical staff -Educate and train medical professionals on behavioral health topics -Participate in program evaluation of integrated care services -Develop new clinical programs -Lead clinic-wide improvement projects -Gain insight as to operational and clinical factors of service development
Patients served in PCBH clinics are aged birth through 18 years and present with a variety of presenting problems, from traditional mental health concerns to pediatric psychology presentations such as toileting, feeding, and sleep problems. Clinical services provided include family therapy, individual therapy, group therapy, and warm hand-offs. The fellowships provide a variety of training experiences such as weekly grand rounds and monthly training days including cohort meetings, didactic seminars, and case conferences.
While the positions are primarily clinical in nature, fellows will have the opportunity to participate in research activities. Candidates do not need to be seeking research careers to qualify. There are opportunities to participate in ongoing treatment outcome research and/or to develop new research projects. Program graduates are highly successful obtaining jobs in academia, PCBH, and academic medical centers.
Clinical, School, or Counseling Ph.D. or Psy.D. degrees and completion of an internship with relevant experience are required. The current 12-month stipend is approximately $47,000 with local low cost of living. Also, fellows are given up to $3,000 for conference travel and fees, association dues, and books. Fellows also are provided health care insurance, malpractice liability insurance, and a life insurance policy. Additional benefits include paid holidays, 15 vacation days, 10 continuing education days, 5 relocation/job interview days, and 5 sick days.
