Incumbent will provide services at the Port Charlotte Community-Based Outpatient Clinic. The duties and responsibilities are carried throughout the HealthCare Center including all clinical and other patient care areas involved with the services. Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. English Language Proficiency: Candidates must be proficient in spoken and written English to be appointed as authorized by 38 U.S.C. § 7403(f). Education: Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may NOT be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Verification of the degree can be made by going to http://www.cswe.org/Accreditation to verify that the social work degree meets the accreditation standards for a masters of social work. Licensure: Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria). Grade Determinations: In addition to meeting the basic requirements stated above, the following qualifications criteria must be met in determining the appropriate grade assignment of candidates. GS-12 Supervisory Social Worker candidates must have the following: Education and Experience: One (1) year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. Licensure/Certification: Individuals assigned as Supervisory Social Workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. Ability to drive a government vehicle. ["The Medical Foster Home/Home Based Primary Care Supervisory Social Worker has significant personnel management of staff at the GS-11 grade level and below. The Incumbent is responsible for the professional and administrative management of Social Work Services provided in Mental Health Clinics. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: The incumbent supervises employees in the Home Based Primary Care Program Lee Count Health Care Center, Port Charlotte CBOC and Sarasota CBOC performing work at GS level up to their own grade and provides administrative, technical, and clinical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the unit. Performs the administrative and personnel management function relative to staff supervised. The incumbent provides direct clinical services to Veterans in the Medical Foster Home Program and the Community Adult Day Program. The incumbent has advanced knowledge of and mastery of theories and modalities used in the specialized treatment of complex physical and/or mental illness. The incumbent has the ability to incorporate complex multiple causation in differential diagnosis and treatment of veteran patients, including making psychosocial diagnoses within approved clinical privileges or scope of practice. The incumbent has the ability to determine priority for services and provide specialized treatment services. The Incumbent completes assessments for Veterans, and provides interventions on the basis of this assessment. The Incumbent has advanced and expert skill in a range of specialized interventions and treatment modalities used in specialty treatment programs or with special patient populations. Performs work related to the review, monitoring, analysis, planning and assessment of various programs to include the Medical Foster Home and Community Adult Day Programs.
