The Supervisor Social Worker (Program Coordinator) oversees the Addiction Treatment Programs at the Baltimore Facility in the Mental Health Clinical Center (MHCC), VA Maryland Healthcare Center (VAMHC) is responsible for the administrative efficiency, clinical integrity, and effectiveness of outpatient addiction treatment programs. The Program Coordinator may delegate Coordinator and/or Team Leaders to manage component programs on a day-to-day operational basis. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. Licensure/Certification. Individuals assigned as supervisory social workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. Skill in a range of supervisory duties which includes clinical supervision, consultation, negotiation with other departments and quality improvement. Coordinates with other Mental Health and non-Mental Health programs as needed to ensure timely and effective access to care at all levels of the VAMHCS organization. Assures all programs meet or exceed internal and external review criteria, performance measures, clinical reminders, OIG requirements and Joint Commission standards. Provides direct patient care as needed including but not necessarily limited to psychological assessment, and a full range of evidence-based psychological treatments specific to Substance Use and Co-occuring Disorders to individuals and groups. Responsible for supervising other social workers and non-LIP staff. Plans work to be accomplished by staff, sets and adjusts priorities, and assigns work. Monitors and guides performance, appraises performance, and monitors time and leave of staff supervised. Resolves and hears complaints, effects disciplinary measures, and recommends action for more serious cases, and when necessary, finds ways to improve productivity and quality of work performed. Reviews all functional statements with supervisees on an annual basis and appropriately revises functional statements to accurately reflect current duties. May provide supervision to social work trainees, which would include time for oversight of all cases, review of documentation, didactic presentations, review of process recordings, and meeting with field liaisons.
