This position is located at the VA Manchester campus and will be assigned to the Physical Med and Rehab Service line. All current and former Federal Employees must provide a copy of their most recent (non award) SF50 To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 07/31/2023. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-9 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-7. The grade may have been in any occupation but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Promotion Potential: This position is at the full performance level, GS9. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to the basic requirements, you may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: GS-7: Specialized Experience: 1 full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in the Federal service that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. Qualifying specialized experience includes: assisting clients to use their insight, personal strengths and resources, goal setting, action steps and accountability toward healthy lifestyle change; coordinating with others on the Veteran's health care team to ensure optimal patient care; utilizing motivational interviewing and health coaching techniques and processes, learned through pre-requisite health coach training, to assist members in developing a realistic plan to accomplish their goals; providing health coaching for Veterans in order to reduce or eliminate high-risk behaviors while increasing healthy ones; conducting interventions for Veterans using one-on-one, couple, or group modalities in outpatient and inpatient settings. NOTE: Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment on their resume. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. successful completion of 1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and graduate level education in excess of the first year or 18 semester hours. ["This position is responsible for the delivery of Whole Health Coaching and skill development of the local Medical Center's Whole Health Coach program, including provision of care through coaching and promotion and education regarding Whole Health Coaching to Veterans and staff. The position is integral to supporting Whole Health Coaches and Veterans in navigating the Whole Health Journey, specifically through the Pathway, Well-being, and Whole Health clinical care elements of the Whole Health System, as well as assisting in the collection of whole health qualitative data from Veterans and creation of reports analyzing effectiveness of health coaching. The position works with individuals and groups throughout the facility in a client-centered process to facilitate and empower the client to develop and achieve self-determined goals related to health and wellness. Coaches support clients in mobilizing internal strengths and external resources and develops self-management strategies for making sustainable, healthy lifestyle behavior changes and more effectively managing chronic disease. While health and wellness coaches do not diagnose conditions, prescribe treatments, or provide psychotherapeutic interventions, they provide expert guidance and may offer resources from nationally recognized authorities. As partners and facilitators, health and wellness coaches support their clients in achieving health goals and behavioral change based on their clients' own goals and consistent with treatment plans as prescribed by individual clients' professional health care providers. Coaches assist clients to use their insight, personal strengths and resources, goal setting, action steps and accountability toward healthy lifestyle change.
